Sometimes, you gotta thank your lucky stars

Sabrina's adventures continued to Lake Titicaca. Situated on the border of Peru and Bolivia, it is the highest lake in the world - at a massive head exploding 3,811 m above sea level. First, we had to get through Juliaca a city thriving on mayham.

It seemed our bikes took a cue from Juliaca, and half way through the winding streets, the side stand sensor on Stephen's bike broke, so it kept stalling. Seemingly it thought it had the side stand down - all the time. So Jens took the F650GS and gave Stephen the F800GS. Again, we set off to Puno.

Arriving in Puno, a beautiful city on the banks of Lake Titicaca, it seemed a quiet relief. Everybody arrived in one piece. Except many of us experienced altitude sickness by the end of the evening. For me, it felt like my brain was being squished into a really tight space.

Never the less, with the exception of the altitude sickness, Lake Titcaca was incredible. We took a boat to visit the floating Islands and meet the locals.

These hand made islands are made from the 'cork' of the reeds. It can take up to 3 months to begin a new island, which can house up to 4 families. All related. The children go to primary school in buildings based within the islands.
The boys relaxed on the local hand built boat whilst the local boys rowed us to the next island:

Except Yans (my alcatchi friend) figured he could row us to the next island:

Meanwhile, Mr Hodny figured he'd do his best Pirates of the Caribbean impersonation:

In all, it was a nice change to be relaxing on a boat rather than squeezing your knees on two wheels (oops - did I really say that?!).

The second last adventure of Sabrina was Arequipa in Peru before heading back to Chile... Hasta Leugo mes amigos!
